Defund the police radicalism
In a tweet on 5/31/2020, John tweeted in favor of the “People’s Budget,” stating “we want services that help and strengthen our communities especially during a pandemic, not more police to tear them apart”
What Is The People's Budget?
Here's an excerpt from the web page John Erickson's tweet linked to at the time:
The People’s Budget allocates just 5.7% of general funds to law enforcement and policing – just about one-tenth of the 54% given to the LAPD in the Mayor’s proposed budget.
A 90% CUT in public safety share of the budget.

Shortly after John Erickson endorsed the People's Budget, they clarified their goals in a release:
DECRIMINALIZING ALL DRUGS
In a May 2021 Interview with CanivisionCA, Erickson expressed support for the complete decriminalization of drugs - even heroine and fentanyl:
“when it comes down to medicinal or recreational drug use, I believe in the complete decriminalization of these aspects..I also strongly believe in the decriminalization of drugs as a whole."
